End of Year Giving

Last week I wrote about stewardship.  That’s our main focus at WorldVenture when it comes to developing a team of partners in ministry.  I need partners.

I need people who are willing to pray on a regular basis.  I need people who can give time and energy to help in a number of capacities throughout the year.  I need people who are willing to give their money on a regular basis.

Currently I need $875 each month in order to meet my salary and all that’s wrapped into it–including my health insurance.

If you break it down into an awkward giving pyramid, it could look something like this:

OK—it’s not going look like a pyramid no matter what I do.  WordPress has limitations my mind doesn’t have.  Sorry about that.  Anyway here’s what it looks like without being in a pyramid.

1   $250

2  $125   $125

3   $75       $75        $75

3   $50        $50       $50

5   $25    $25     $25     $25     $25

(I suppose it looks like the right half of a pyramid.)

If I’ve done my math correctly–always a questionable thing—that comes out to a need of 14 more indivuduals, families, individuals, or groups to join my financial support team each month.  That sounds do-able!

If you want to give a number that’s not in the pyramid–like $500 or $100 or $15 each month, I really don’t mind recalculating the awkward pyramid.  Really.  It would be my pleasure.

If a monthly commitment isn’t a possibility for you at this point, I totally understand.  I know some of you who read this may have some money that you’re trying to get into the hands of non-profits by the end of the year so you can reap the rewards of generosity by April 15, 2011.   Never fear!  Your special gifts are welcome!

Here’s what you do . . .

1. Send a check or money order to WorldVenture, 1501 W. Mineral Ave., Littleton, CO 80122.  If you want your gift put towards my ministry, please include a note that says it’s for the ministry of Sheryl O’Bryan.  My account number is 952.  The IRS doesn’t like it when you write my account number or name on the check.  Don’t worry.  If you send a note or put a sticky note on it,  it always winds up in the correct account.

OR

2. Go to WorldVenture’s website (in case you want to look around some) and the Give Now page.  Once you’re on the Give Now page, go to the first drop down menu—it has missionary in the box before you click on anything—and look for my name.  The rest is pretty self-explanatory.

If you’re making a special end of the year gift, you can write a note in the memo . . . or not.  If you think you’d like to make this ministry to Third Culture Kids and their families a regular part of your giving throughout the year (monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, annually) please say that in the memo.  This lets me know how to plan for the year.

Remember there really aren’t any gifts that are too small.  I appreciate everything you give.  I know I’m not the only one either.
